From 2008 to 2020, the left-arm pacer, who is 38 years old, participated in 27 Tests, 91 ODIs, and 36 T20 Internationals, taking 83, 120, and 34 wickets, respectively.

“After a remarkable trip, I’ve made the decision to stop playing international cricket. Big thanks to PCB, my family, my teammates, my coaches, my mentors, the fans, and everyone else that helped me out. Franchise cricket is about to experience some exciting times, he declared in a message published on the social networking site X, previously known as Twitter.

As I say goodbye to this chapter, I’m excited to start a new journey in franchise cricket, where I want to enthrall and motivate spectators while facing off against some of the top players in the world, the fast bowler said.

Riaz took 5/63 against England at The Oval, becoming the eighth Pakistani bowler in the country’s history to achieve a five-for on his or her debut.

In the quarterfinal of the 2011 World Cup in Mohali, Riaz again claimed a renowned five-wicket haul, although in a losing cause, against India.

But for many, Riaz’s most illustrious period came during the 2015 World Cup quarterfinal when he terrified Australia’s hitters, especially Shane Watson, with a blitz of short-pitch bowling.
