“Too Much”: Football Supporters Respond To Arturo Vidal’s “King-Like” Speech At His Boyhood Club

The football world was caught aback by Arturo Vidal’s lavish introduction at Colo Colo, the Chilean player. When Vidal gave a speech at his hometown club in Chile, he was greeted like a king. It goes without saying that the event caused some controversy and was everything from subdued. Now, TNT Sports has posted a video of Vidal’s presentation on Platform X, captioning it, “Arturo Vidal’s unveiling at his new club in Chile just got crazier and crazier.”

The football player can be seen riding in a helicopter as he approaches the stadium in the footage. Then, as he steps down and gestures to the crowd, a knight arrives to care to him. Then, in front of around 35,000 supporters, he rode around the field wearing a crown and brandishing a sword. Many admirers thought the festivities were a little excessive; one said, “A little over the top lol.”

“You’ve overdone it with these transfer tales now. The helicopter is OK, but really, dressing up like a king and riding a horse with a sword on it? It’s just too much,” someone other said.

One fan was just in shock at what was happening in Chile. “What the hell is going on here? Why have I just seen Vidal arrive like a member of the Yellowstone cast?” he said.

A other user made a joke about it, saying that it was the same response he always received when he went to work. “Irrational? The guy remarked, “Every morning when I go to work, I get this.”

“The most passionate admirers seem to be in South America. There’s always so much noise,” another person said.

Among the most significant figures in Chilean history is Vidal. He and striker Alexis Sanchez were part of the country’s golden age. Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and defensive midfielder Gary Medes were two other well-known players on that squad.

He helped his nation win two Copa America championships, defeating Lionel Messi’s Argentina in the championship match each time. In addition, Vidal has represented some of the top clubs in European football, such as Barcelona, Juventus, and Bayern Munich. From 2020 to 2022, he played for Serie A team Inter Milan in Europe for the last time.

After that, Vidal moved to Brazil to play for Flamengo in 2022–2023 and Athletico Paranaense in 2023–2024. After 17 years, the Chilean has finally returned to his hometown club. Vidal has amassed an impressive collection of trophies during his years away from Chile. He made it to the UEFA Champions League final once and won league championships in three of the top five European leagues.
